Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
Before you apply, please make sure you meet all the following requirements. These are mandatory for all candidates.
- Nationality: You must be a citizen of India.
- Age Limit: You must be under 45 years old as of 31 Dec 2025.
- Educational Qualification:
- You must have a BDS/MDS degree from a college recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
- You must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in your final year of BDS (or hold an MDS degree).
- NEET-MDS 2025 Score: This is a critical requirement. You must have appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-MDS) conducted on 19 Apr 2025.
- Internship: You should have completed your one-year compulsory rotatory internship by 30 Jun 2025.
- Registration: You must have a Permanent or Provisional State Dental Council registration that is valid up to at least 31 Dec 2025.
The Selection Process
The selection process is straightforward and merit-based, designed to find the best candidates for the corps.
- Shortlisting based on NEET Score: First, we will shortlist candidates based on the scores they achieved in the NEET (MDS)-2025 exam. For every one vacancy, ten candidates will be called for the next stage.
- Interview: Next, shortlisted candidates will attend an interview with a Selection Board in New Delhi. This interview will assess your suitability and merit for the role.
- Medical Examination: Finally, candidates who qualify in the interview will undergo a detailed medical examination to ensure they meet the physical standards of the Indian Army.
Important Note: The final merit list is prepared based only on your performance in the interview.
Salary and Benefits: A Rewarding Career
As an officer in the Army Dental Corps, you will receive excellent pay and a wide range of benefits.
- Starting Rank: You will be commissioned as a Captain.
- Basic Pay: You start at Level 10B of the Defence Pay Matrix (βΉ61,300 – βΉ1,20,900).
- Allowances: In addition to your basic pay, you will receive:
- Military Service Pay (MSP): βΉ15,500 per month.
- Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA): 20% of your Basic Pay.
- Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance (TPTA) as per government rules.
- Special allowances for postings in field areas, high altitudes, etc.
- Other Privileges: You and your dependents will also get free medical facilities, canteen services, government accommodation, subsidized loans, and access to mess/club facilities.
- Leave: You are entitled to 60 days of annual leave and 20 days of casual leave each year.
Career Growth and Promotions
Your career in the AD Corps offers a clear path for growth and the opportunity to serve long-term.
- Tenure: The initial service period is for five years. This can be extended up to a total of 14 years.
- Permanent Commission (PC): After two years of service, eligible SSC officers can apply for a limited number of Permanent Commission vacancies, allowing you to serve until retirement.
- Promotions:
- Captain: On entry.
- Major: After 4.5 years of service.
- Lt. Colonel: After 11.5 years of service.
- Permanent Commission officers can rise to senior ranks like Colonel, Brigadier, and beyond based on selection.
