Junior Software Developer (Platform) – Chennai, India – Exasol

Role overview

This is a full-time junior role in Exasol’s Platform team, based in the India Tech Hub in Chennai, where you work on the core infrastructure of Exasol’s high‑performance, distributed analytics database system. The focus is on improving robustness, fault tolerance, scalability, and building tools that make management and automation of the platform easier.​

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain platform services and libraries primarily using C++ and Python, with possible exposure to Go.​

• Implement features around process management, messaging, and cluster coordination in a distributed environment.​

• Improve performance and reliability through testing, debugging, and iterative development, including diagnosing crashes, hangs, performance bottlenecks, and resource leaks.​

• Perform root cause analysis on incidents from customer systems and document findings, contributing to team knowledge sharing, planning, and reviews.​

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.​

• Some hands‑on experience with C++, Python, or Go from internships or personal projects.​

• Basic Linux knowledge (systems concepts and command‑line tools), good problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication in a team setting.​

Preferred profile

• Familiarity with asynchronous programming (Async IO) and interest or exposure to database systems or data infrastructure.​

• Experience working in collaborative environments or on open‑source projects, and motivation to grow in distributed systems and backend engineering.​
