Role overview – Trainee Restructuring

As a Trainee in Restructuring, you support the team in managing active insolvency cases, preparing regulatory documentation, liaising with creditors and stakeholders, and using financial data and analytics tools to drive case insights and operational efficiency. You take ownership of assigned tasks, manage your own workload and demonstrate a “can do” approach while learning the nuances of restructuring, insolvency law and financial advisory.

Key responsibilities

This trainee role combines administrative, analytical and client-facing support functions within a structured restructuring environment.

  • Use the firm’s well-established internal systems to produce standard letters and forms on case-related matters, ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations

  • Deal with correspondence (written and telephone) in a timely and professional manner with creditors, employees and directors of insolvent estates

  • Liaise with solicitors, chattel agents and debt collection agents to ensure asset realizations are maximized

  • Collate information and assist in the preparation of financial and case reports

  • Take ownership of assigned cases and manage your own workload independently

  • Keep line managers appraised on case progress and escalate issues appropriately

  • Assist and support other team members as required, demonstrating collaboration and teamwork

  • Take an active part in the firm and demonstrate a proactive, “can do” attitude

  • Travel to client sites and offices as required

Skills and competencies required

The Trainee Restructuring role requires a blend of financial acumen, data analytics proficiency and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Financial & accounting background:Β MBA in Finance, Systems, Data & Analytics; or Engineering degree (Computer Science, ECE, Mechanical, Civil); or Chartered/Cost Accountant qualification.

  • Data & Analytics proficiency (highly valued):

    • Business Intelligence (BI) tools expertise, particularlyΒ Power BIΒ (building dashboards, creating complex data models, developing workflow-driven insights)

    • Other BI tools knowledge (Tableau, Qlik, etc.) is preferred

    • Excel Macros/VBA proficiency for automation, custom functions and process optimization

Eligibility, qualification and background
