Job Description

Red Hat Critical Accounts Program (CAP) team is hiring for a 6 months duration apprenticeship program and seeking a Trainee – Associate Software Maintenance Engineer (ASME) to join the Product Experience Engineering team. The role focuses on improving platform stability and product quality for technologies like OpenShift, Linux, and virtualization platforms.

This apprenticeship provides an opportunity to work with leading open-source developers while receiving hands-on mentorship and practical training on Red Hat technologies including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), OpenShift Container Platform, and Virtualization.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform investigation and troubleshooting of OpenShift and Linux software issues
• Write test cases and corresponding code fixes for real-world customer environments
• Utilize AI-augmented tools like Claude, Gemini, and Cursor for automation and prompt engineering
• Use open-source engineering workflows including Git, cherry-picking, and rebasing
• Gather bug information and collaborate with cross-functional global teams
• Build and maintain automated test suites and CI/CD pipelines
• Ensure implementation of clean, maintainable, and high-quality code

Requirements / Skills

• Recent Graduation within the last two years (2025 / 2026)
• Familiarity with scripting languages like Bash or Python
• Strong C/C++, Go, or Golang programming skills
• Basic understanding of Linux fundamentals, networking, and storage
• Knowledge of Containers and open-source development concepts
• Familiarity with GitHub/GitLab workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, or Docker
