Role Overview
HPE’s Datacenter Networking team is looking for an entry-level or junior Software Engineer interested in cloud-native products, distributed systems and large-scale automation. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineers to design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for new products and enhancements.
The role also provides opportunities to learn about AI agents, copilots, infrastructure management, automated testing, observability and modern DevOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for product enhancements and new products.
- Contribute to software components involving networking, utilities, databases and internet-related tools.
- Write high-quality code and develop automated test cases.
- Learn to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous execution and quality management.
- Participate in design discussions and collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to solutions for operating large-scale software and hardware systems.
- Build an understanding of software testability, observability and debuggability.
Eligibility & Required Skills
Required qualifications:
- B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science or a related major.
- 0–2 years of hands-on coding experience, including internships, co-ops or academic projects.
- Programming knowledge in Python, Golang, Java, C or C++.
- Foundational understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native development, microservices and Infrastructure as Code.
- Exposure to KVM, OpenStack, Kubernetes or VMware.
- Familiarity with Docker, Cassandra, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Prometheus or Grafana.
- Exposure to Ansible, Helm or Terraform.
- Understanding of REST or gRPC-based APIs and automated testing.
- Interest in monitoring technologies such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog or Signoz.
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with AI/ML and agentic frameworks such as LangChain and FastAPI.
- Exposure to AIOps/MLOps tools such as SageMaker, Databricks, Vertex AI, Azure ML or MLflow.
- Knowledge of GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Argo Workflows.
- Academic publications, hackathon participation or open-source contributions.
