Job purpose

The SDET acts as a Quality Analyst specializing in both automation and manual testing to ensure the quality and reliability of digital banking software across web, mobile and API platforms. The role includes designing, implementing and executing test plans, along with strong database testing to maintain data integrity and performance.​

Key roles & responsibilities

1. Test planning & design

• Develop comprehensive test plans based on project and user story specifications.

• Design and document detailed test cases for web, mobile, API and database testing.

• Collaborate closely with development teams to understand system requirements and business flows.​

2. Automation testing

• Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Appium and related frameworks.

• Execute automated test suites, analyze results and report defects.

• Identify high‑value areas for test automation and implement efficient automation strategies.​

3. Manual testing

• Execute manual test cases for functional, regression, integration and basic performance testing.

• Log, track and report defects with clear steps, logs and evidence for developers.

• Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and unforeseen issues.​

4. Web, mobile & API testing

• Perform end‑to‑end testing of web and mobile banking applications.

• Validate API functionality, contracts, error handling and integration points.

• Ensure cross‑browser and multi‑device compatibility for key customer journeys.​

5. Continuous Integration (CI)

• Design, implement and maintain CI pipelines that incorporate automated testing and deployment.

• Integrate automated tests into CI workflows (e.g., Jenkins, Git-based pipelines) for early defect detection.

• Continuously optimize CI processes for speed, stability and reliability.​

6. Database testing

• Write and execute SQL queries to validate data integrity and business rules.

• Verify data transformations, migrations and batch processes.

• Identify and troubleshoot performance issues related to database interactions.​

7. Collaboration & agile practices

• Work with developers, product owners and other stakeholders to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.

• Participate in agile ceremonies (stand‑ups, sprint planning, retros) with a strong focus on quality.

• Provide early feedback on testability and risk areas.​

8. Test documentation

• Maintain clear, organized documentation of test cases, execution results and defect reports.

• Update regression suites and testing artefacts as applications and services evolve.​

Educational qualifications

Full‑time degrees in any of the following:

• Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)

• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)

• Master of Science (M.Sc)

• Master of Technology (M.Tech)

• Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)

• Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
