Role Overview
The Apprentice-Systems Engineering position is part of Infineonβs WLAN modem systems design team, which is responsible for developing and delivering high-performance WiFi solutions. The role spans multiple stages of the product lifecycle, including pre-silicon development, reference model creation, verification support, chip bring-up activities, and post-silicon firmware development.
Candidates will gain hands-on experience working with wireless communication systems, PHY layer design, signal processing algorithms, RF modeling, and hardware-software integration. The role involves collaboration with multiple engineering teams, providing an excellent learning environment for engineers interested in wireless technologies and semiconductor product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analysis, development and maintenance of WLAN Physical Layer reference models in C/C++, System C and Matlab.
- Use case definition and generation of reference vectors for pre-Silicon RTL verification of PHY blocks.
- Work with the PHY design team to complete design verification activities.
- Collaborate with RF and Analog design teams in creating RF specifications.
- Model RF components in the simulation environment.
- Work closely with MAC systems teams, firmware development teams, hardware board design teams, and RF design teams.
- Define and document interfaces to the PHY layer.
- Model interfaces in reference designs to enable verification.
- Support chip bring-up and development of PHY firmware in the post-silicon phase.
Required Skills & Eligibility
- Masters in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
- Specialization in DSP (Digital Signal Processing) or Communication Systems.
- 0β2 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of WLAN and wireless communication systems.
- Understanding of Physical Layer (PHY) concepts.
- Experience or familiarity with C/C++ programming.
- Knowledge of System C and Matlab.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
