Role overview & responsibilities

As an Associate System Engineer (Software Developer), you will be part of IBM Consulting delivery teams, working on the software development lifecycle—design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support—to enable clients’ hybrid cloud and AI journeys.​

Key responsibilities:

• Analyze, validate, and propose improvements to existing issues, working with architects and technical leads.​

• Participate in all phases of the process: design, development, testing, release, and troubleshooting while ensuring excellent customer service.​

• Engage with stakeholders, understand the current landscape, and code innovative, high-performance, highly available, and maintainable solutions.​

Eligibility criteria

• Education:

  • BE / BTech in Computer Science (all CS specializations such as CSE, AI & ML, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics, CSBS, IoT, Robotics, AI, Cyber Security, Blockchain, etc.) or Information Technology.​

• Academic performance: Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 60%.​

• Backlogs: No active backlogs at the time of selection and joining.​

• Status: Final-year student; must obtain the degree before the start of employment with IBM (2026 pass-out).​

• Work flexibility: Should be flexible to work from anywhere in India as per business needs.​

Required skills

• Programming skills in one or more languages: Java, C++, Python, Node.js (or similar).​

• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts.​

• Fluent in written and spoken communication skills.​

Preferred skills

• Strong engineering background and problem-solving mindset.​

• Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within diverse teams.​
